NATIONAL DOODLE DAY
P.O. Box 194443
San Francisco, CA 94119
Dear Friend,
We'd like to introduce you to 12-year-old Elana. Doesn't she look healthy and happy? Who would guess that, only months ago, she endured a six hour surgery to remove a brain tumor caused by neurofibromatosis, a common genetic disorder. Elana is one of 100,000 Americans who were born with neurofibromatosis, known more simply as NF.
Rather than feel sorry for herself, the amazing Elana has reached out to her peers by creating an NF Care Packages program. Entirely at her own expense, Elana designs and mails gift boxes to cheer up other NF kids dealing with surgery or chemotherapy.
Neurofibromatosis can affect any family. When Elana was diagnosed at age four, her parents, like most people, had never heard of NF. Imagine an unpredictable disease that causes tumors to form on your nerves, sometimes resulting in disfigurement, paralysis, deafness, blindness or cancer. In the wrong place, even benign tumors can be fatal. Despite decades of research, there is still no cure for NF, and treatments are largely inadequate.
BUT THERE IS HOPE. Neurofibromatosis, Inc. is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to provide services to individuals with NF and their families. YOU can help us help children like Elana by participating in the annual NATIONAL DOODLE DAY charity auction of celebrity Doodles.
Simply draw a "Doodle" on the enclosed card, autograph it, and submit it in the prepaid envelope. ThatŐs it! Plain or fancy, serious or silly, pencil, pen, crayon, chalk or watercolor, they all sell. Auction proceeds help our NF families. For inspiration and amusement, check out the Doodles on the reverse and visit our website, www.doodledayusa.org.
We'd like to receive your Doodle by mid-April, but we're delighted to accept it whenever your schedule allows. Doodles are collected year-round for auctioning each May.

THANK YOU!
